Iago, one of Shakespeares most villainous and scheming characters, is the main source of convulsion in Othello because he effectively manipulates three central characters: Othello, the Moorish normal in the Venetian army, Desdemona, the beautiful wife of Othello, and Roderigo, the wealthy new-fangled world pursui ng Desdemona. The play opens on a path in Venice and there is a heated discussion fetching posterior between Roderigo and Iago.
